Antioxidant Concentrate for the Eyes HydrapHel Complex Antioxidant Moisture Complex Cream
REM Intensive Night Therapy Hydra-Therapy Body Skin Cream

It's winter and my whole body feels like a husk of corn it's so dry. So I went out on an expedition to find a line that could keep my dry skin happy. I chanced upon the Erno Laszlo line while prowling through the local Saks Fifth Avenue. Erno Laszlo was a Hungarian skin specialist who started his business in the 20s. He was especially loved of Hollywood actresses of the period. The company that bears his name offers a full line of products for all skin types and problems. One of the few lines that places equal emphasis on treating dry skin as it does on oily skin. One of the line's signature ingredients is Chaulmoogra oil, which is in most of their products. Erno Laszlo presents a line of products that, in our experience, are effective, reasonably priced, and packed with interesting and exotic ingredients. The whole line comes highly recommended.

I sit in front of a computer screen all day, which leaves my eye area very, very dry. Most eye creams I've tried have been (a) too drying (b) too "lifting", leaving me looking like Ertha Kitt after a few days, or (c) too greasy. So I was skeptical when I tried out Erno's potion. I was pleasantly surprised. This is a terrific eye cream. It has a wealth of natural ingredients, such as grapeseed oil, ivy extract and Chaulmoogra oil that hydrate and tone the eyes. What I love about this cream is that it moisturizes without leaving my eye area feeling greasy. Also, and most importantly, it doesn't irritate my eyes. If you're looking for a good eye moisturizer that will also soothe and tone, this is it.

Ingredients:

Water, Mineral Oil, Synthetic Wax, Isocetyl Stearoyl Stearate, Ceresin, Pentaerythrityl Tetraoleate, Sesame Oil, Sodium Borate, Squalane, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Allantoin, Sodium PCA, Chaulmoogra Oil, Isopropyl Lanolate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Carbomer, Fragrance, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Beta-Carotene.

My cheeks (on my face, that is) are always very dry, so I'm always on the look out for very hydrating face creams. This is one of my favorites. I use it as a night cream, particularly in the winter. It's a luxurious cream that is nevertheless not at all greasy. It sinks in and instantly leaves my cheeks feeling hydrated. I awake in the morning ready to face the day with nary a blotch of dryness to be seen. This cream is definitely not for those concerned about zits, but you guys already have like a gazillion creams for your skin types, so stop whining. This is another keeper from the people at EL.

OK, so I've got my eye cream and my night cream, but what about the day time? Most day creams leave my cheeks feeling like sandpaper, so it was a pleasure to sample the Antioxidant Moisture Complex Cream. This is Erno Laszlo's vitamin cream, packed with all the standard antioxidant vitamins, A, C and E. But who can't love a cream that also has locust bean gum? I have no idea what it is, but it sounds too cool. This is a silky, emollient cream that leaves my cheeks feeling nice and hydrated all day, but, again, without feeling at all greasy. My highest recommendation for a day cream. Which technically this isn't, but I don't care.

REM Intensive Night Therapy

Ingredients:

Water, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Octyl Palmitate, Beeswax, Squalane, Octyldodecanol, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, Ozokerite, Butylene Glycol, Ceteareth-20, Sodium PCA, Chaulmoogra Oil, Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil, Hazelnut Oil, Sesame Oil, Sunflower Seed Oil, Lecithin, Micrococcus Lysate, Plankton Extract, Hydrocotyl Extract, Coneflower Extract, Algae Extract, Gingko Biloba Extract, Ginseng Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Gel, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycogen, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopheryl Linoleate, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Bisabolol, Fragrance, Sorbic Acid, Pentasodium Triphosphate, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben.

These days every skin care line has to have products that address the skin aging issue. This is one of EL's entries for that problem. It is billed as a deep reparative moisturizer, and the ingredient list is certainly impressive. Lots of emollient oils and elements to sooth and oxygenate the face. But, for the money, I was deeply unimpressed. It's not as emollient as the HydrapHel Complex or the Antioxidant Moisture Complex, yet it's much more expensive. My skin didn't feel all that hydrated by this cream, and in fact felt a little dryer after using it. So this is one EL product I would urge you to pass on, since it doesn't seem to do anything that less expensive EL products don't already do, and better.

Now that the face is taken care of, I needed to find the perfect body cream for my very dry forearms and legs. And, again, I was not disappointed. This is basically a version of the HydrapHel cream formulated for the body, and it has the same wonderful effects. Highly recommended.
