Caudalie Products Reviewed :

Vinolift Total Night Care

Caudalie is a relatively new skin care line, being only about six years old. It was founded by the owners of a winery in France, who realized they were flushing money down the toilet by throwing away all their grape seeds. So they started a skin care line based on grape seed oil, and its important anti-oxidant benefits. Grape seed is a powerful antioxidant, but is also a very good moisturizer for the skin. Caudalie was the first to popularize the use of this ingredient, and for a while they coasted on that distinction. Now every skin care line offers grape seed oil in their products, so Caudalie has to innovate a little more. So let's take a look at two of their newer products and see how they are succeeding at that task. Caudalie products are available at most high-end department stores, at Sephora stores and on-line a Sephora (www.sephora.com).

Vinolift is a medium-weight serum designed to provide hydration and firming benefits to the skin. In terms of application, I really like this product. The serum is rich, but dries down leaving your skin with just a light dew of moisture on it. I hate serums that dry really dry and leave my cheeks feeling like sandpaper. Another thing I love about Vinolift is that it is completely non-irritating. I apply it to my face and neck right after shaving, and it never stings or causes redness. The aroma is wonderful as well - the scent of fresh vines and grapes which is not at all sweet or cloying. Its effect is a very nice lifting of the skin. Some lifting products have an unnatural effect, making it seem as though you'd had a really bad face lift. Not so Vinolift. Its effect is noticeable, but entirely natural. We love this product. It has everything going for it. Its a pleasure to use all around and it really does make your face look better. As such, it gets our highest rating. Use with confidence!

What do you think of when you hear the words "night cream"? Like me, you probably entertain visions of a cream as rich and luxurious as the sugar daddy of your dreams. You think of a product that makes your face feel ultimately pampered and cared for before you go to bed. You think of a product that makes your skin luminous and refreshed in the morning mirror. So why, I asked myself after using this product, did Caudalie call this piece of crap a night cream? It has none of the qualities you would associate with that category - and many you wouldn't associate with any. It is a very dimethicone-y gel that goes on with all the naturalness of saran wrap, and dries like thsoe products you buy to fix cuts in vinyl furniture. My skin felt absolutely horrible after applying this. In fact, I did what I almost never do - I washed the stuff off! From a skincare trouper like me - who has endured everything from exfoliants that contain broken glass to rancid retinol for the sake of my readers- that is something. If you want to duplicate the effect of this product, just spray your face with Windex and spend the $59 on a stripper. Ugh.
